Mission Statement
The Sweet Caroline Foundation supports community awareness, education, research, and the availability of life saving treatment in our relentless pursuit to end death and disability caused by anaphylaxis.
Background
The Sweet Caroline Foundation was established in 2014 following the death of Caroline Lorette due to anaphylaxis. Our foundation began by passing out purple ribbons and educating classrooms of students in Rothesay, New Brunswick with the help of family and friends. Over the years, we have evolved into a charitable organization who are dedicated to promoting allergy awareness, and offering our services Nationwide. Each year, we open our scholarship to find deserving students who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to raising allergy awareness in their own communities. We will continue to spread the word about allergy awareness – educating staff and students in schools, culinary staff at restaurants, the public through wellness fairs and other events; while we continue to advocate to have epinephrine available in all public locations. Our mission is to ensure that no family ever has to endure the loss of their loved one due to anaphylaxis; at the end of the day, that is what this is all about.
Who is Caroline?
Caroline never let her allergies hold her back. She adored traveling the world, as difficult as it was to find something to eat, she was always ready for the next adventure. Caroline loved her family and friends deeply. She looked up to her big sister Katherine, and was her best friend. They were two peas in a pod, and their lives and personalities were intertwined through dance, kayaking, and simply enjoying each other’s company. She loved camping with her family and spending as much time with them as she could. She was an athletic, strong, smart, and loving girl who enjoyed each day to its fullest. Caroline loved to run – and boy, was she fast. We try our best to bring everything that Caroline was into the work that we do.
Caroline had an infectious smile, she could light up an entire room, and make even the worst of days bright. She had such a goofy sense of humour and always found laughter and happiness in everything. She had an immeasurable love of life, and always inspired people to live their lives to the fullest. She had a loving, caring presence, her long hugs felt like home. Her heart was so big and had room in it for every single person that she met.
We miss her more than we are able to put into words. We miss our little sister, our daughter, our cousin, our niece, our granddaughter, and our friend.
